Making complex information
easier to use.
Institutional communication rarely exists in a single format. Presentations need to support meetings and decisions. Manuals need to guide people through processes. Digital campaigns need to communicate quickly. Documents need to remain readable after dozens of pages.
My work for CAINTRA extended across presentations, documentation, training material and digital communication, translating different types of information into a consistent visual language.

Different information.

One institution.
An industrial organization produces communication for many situations. Some information needs to be understood in seconds; some needs to support a presentation; some needs to remain useful across dozens of pages; some needs to guide a user through a process.

The difficult part is rarely the decoration.
Corporate information arrives in imperfect forms: long paragraphs, tables, screenshots, processes, statistics, instructions and technical language. The designer's role is to establish hierarchy before style: what needs to be understood first, what belongs together, and what can become a diagram.
Multiple activities must be completed according to the conditions described in the document. Users should complete the information and submit it after the corresponding review has taken place...

Complete the process in four steps.
01Confirm the required information02Select the relevant profile03Review before submission04Submit and retain recordPresentations are working tools, not decoration for meetings.
A presentation must establish pace, allow scanning from a distance and give the presenter structure without competing with the conversation.
A presentation needs pace, not one repeated layout.
Large statements, evidence, comparison, process and closing slides each carry a different kind of attention. A varied sequence keeps the room oriented and makes information easier to retain.

Data becomes useful when the visual structure answers a question. Charts, comparisons and tables need a stated purpose: direction, difference, distribution, sequence or priority.
Participation by period
A document becomes useful when readers can find their way through it.
Long documents need navigation, content hierarchy, repeatable page structures and enough restraint for the material to remain readable after the first page.
Information
that moves.
Institutional communication / selected workRead, review, act.
Clear hierarchy lets the document carry instruction without requiring every page to start from zero.
Software documentation is part of the product experience.
When users encounter a process through documentation, the manual becomes part of the product. It needs to explain the task, not simply archive screenshots.

Documentation needs a reliable page system.
A strong manual lets a reader recognize where they are, what the page is for and what action follows next.

Consistency is not repetition.
Recurring presentation and document elements can share a visual grammar while allowing each communication to retain the structure its content needs.

Turn actions into a visible sequence.
Step numbers establish sequence. Screenshots establish location. Annotations establish attention. The visual hierarchy mirrors the order of the task and reduces interpretation.

From long-form information to a five-second decision.
Email communication creates the opposite design problem from manuals. Hierarchy has to become immediate: what happened, why it matters and what the recipient should do next.

Hierarchy before ornament.
Charcoal establishes structure. Orange highlights priority and movement. Warm neutral backgrounds reduce visual fatigue in dense documents. Typography and spacing handle different volumes of information.
Information
with direction.
A PDF can behave like a small information product.
Clear contents, section markers, cross references and predictable destinations let documents benefit from interface thinking without becoming an application.
Review before submission.
Use this page to confirm required elements, then return to the appropriate section when more detail is needed.
Professional communication has to survive imperfect conditions.
Documents and presentations are viewed on different screens, projectors, printers and devices. Strong contrast, restrained color dependency and clear hierarchy make information more durable.

Turning years of communication into a reusable system.
Looking retrospectively reveals recurring patterns: titles, data, processes, instructions, warnings, navigation and calls to action. This exploration extracts them into a more explicit communication system.

Information design is infrastructure for communication.
Organizations run on documents. Presentations carry decisions. Manuals preserve processes. Instructions help people act. When those materials are clear, consistent and usable, design becomes part of how information moves through an organization.
